Journal #5 chapters 13-15 in the perspective of scout

Sometimes I really hate Aunt Alexandra. She came here totally unexpected and by most of us unwanted. She's trying to make me into a girly girl. And I hate it. She wants me to be more like the rest of the Finches. She even told Atticus to teach me about my ancestors. I already know the story of my ancestors. She told me not to go with Calpurnia to the church again. I like her church more than I like mine. She even told Atticus to fire Calpurnia. She told him we don't need her that she's a waste of space. I like Calpurnia. She's part of our family even if she's black. I can tell Aunt Alexandra doesn't like blacks because she is angry at Atticus for defending Tom Robinson in the rape case. She said it is tearsing apart our family but me and jem feel as close to our father as we have our whole lives. Maybe even more.

As we went in our rooms we found Dill under my bed. He said he ran away because his mom wasn't treating him right. He wanted be live in Maycomb with us and his aunt. I don't have a problem with that. I love him. He even talked to me about us when he was at our house for the night. The next day his Aunt Rachel found out and took him in. I think it's cool how he got ona train and hitched a ride all the way to Maycomb. I'm really happy he's here.

When it got close to the day of the trial, we followed my dad to the jail where he's visiting Tom Robinson. After about 5 minutes Jem tell us we don't have to bother my father by being there. As we were leaving a group of men threatened my father not to defend him. I saw Mr. Cunnigham. I told him to say hi to his son knowing him thinking of his son would make him know what he was doing was wrong. It worked and he called off his men. Then Atticus, Jem, Dill and I walked home.
